| ROOST FIGHTER OUTTAKES! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Brandon Is Brainwashed | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Story: When Brandon is attacked in his home and glued to a chair, Clint Werner hypnotizes him and makes the Code Monkey his slave. Doing the bidding of his master, Brandon is sent to attack his fellow Roosters until the spell is finally broken. Background: This was the original intent for Chapter 2 and beyond, and this was probably going to be the whole plot before the tournament. However, looking back, it seems sort of silly. If Clint hated Brandon, why wouldn't he just try to kill him? Was it really such a good idea in the first place, as hypnosis does NOT work that way despite what popular theory says? In the end, while it may have been interesting to the reader, it was dumped. |

| Shanghai Arrival: Extended Version | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Story: After arriving in Shanghai for the first round of Roost Fighter, the warriors decide to enjoy the night by shopping in the vibrant heart of the city. Gamzilla and some of the fighters go browsing for Godzilla stuff, Melkor and his two companions meet up with them and do some shopping, and Tomzilla treats his girls to quality things like dresses and chocolates. Background: As you can see, this scene was meant to a light-hearted take on the idea that no one really knew what would be coming up. But by the time I got to the Shanghai arrival sequence, there just wasn't enough substance to this idea, and so what we got is Tomzilla in his pink swim shorts and his quick confrontation with Bruce. The idea of the fighters going shopping before the tournament just doesn't make any sense now that the story is finished. |

| "I Spy Girls" Versions 1 and 2 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Version 1: The night before the tournament, the fighters discover two things: 1) that men and women have separate buildings for bedrooms, across from each other; and 2) that there are binoculars in the bedrooms. As the girls prepare themselves for sleep, the men all pull out their binoculars and spy on the girls as they undress, including when they are completely nude. Somehow the two women don't notice, and the men walk away feeling really giddy. Background: Trust me, I was very ready to write this sequence (heh-heh?). The binoculars gag was another tool that would enhance Roost Fighter's silliness, and the women not noticing would further help it; though at the same time, it would establish RF as a truly "mature" story. In the end, however, my own concerns about how the two girls in question would react to it killed it. But it still wasn't the end of the "I Spy Girls" scenario... Version 2: After taking back some beer in true Canadian fashion in the night, Bruce decides to go peek on Queen Ghidorah and China. Stumbling out of his room, he puts his eye up to the peephole in the door and watches Queen Ghidorah and China undress and redress in their night clothes. Bruce giggles like a hick and fulfills some inner desires until Rick shows up and pulls Bruce away from the door. Background: This is what Bruce was going to do in Chapter 17, and once again I was VERY ready to write it. However, as with Version 1, concerns about getting flamed by the two girls in question had me drop it. Oh well... |

| Bruce Gets Shut Down | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Story: Sometime in the Roost Fighter tournament, Bruce hooks up with Queen Ghidorah and they appear to fall in love. But something is amiss: Queen Ghidorah is 6 years older than Bruce. Apparently Bruce has forgotten this, and so it's up to Queenie to break it to him. Parker gets upset for a while, but then as he progresses through the tournament it doesn't seem to bother him that much. Background: I really wanted Bruce to get a girlfriend in the story (haha) and so this would have done the trick. Unfortunately, nothing really goes right for the guy as he forgot that Queenie is 6 years older than him. It was yet another ploy, and a ruse - albeit one that really wouldn't have time to develop. So this scenario was dropped pretty quickly once the tournament was announced to the fighters. |

| Suicidal Arrival in Osaka (Chapter 23) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Story: Never one to be outdone by Godzilla, Clint demands that the remaining fighters take private jets to Osaka. Once there, everyone is nearly blasted by Godzilla and crushed by debris, but somehow they make it alive. Background: No doubt people wanted to see more of Godzilla in the story, but the problem was how to get the fighters in Osaka alive if Goji was gonna be there. I just could not find a logical reason to haul them there if Godzilla has the fire breath, with which he would undoubtedly kill the warriors and everyone else. So I found the quick way around this - kill time by just having a two-sentence chapter. Not that you'd be any happier, but I guess it was just due to lack of time. Plus, there were concerns of getting Roost Fighter II online at the right time, so this is why I dropped the original plans for Chapter 23. |

| Bruce Gets Cloned: Birth of Orga_99 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Story: After unsuccessfully fighting Clint, Bruce is taken by Clint to be cloned. After having some DNA and blood being borrowed from him, Bruce watches as a machine placed beside him goes wild as Clint pulls a lever, and from the smoke appears Orga_99, ready to kick ass. Background: This was the original birth of the nightmare hybrid Orga_99. At first, it would have made more sense than what eventually transpired, as least in the fact that Bruce's original Roost username was Orga_99. However, after introducing Rick into the Roost Fighter saga (believe or not, Rick was the last character to be made and introduced in Roost Fighter - he was not originally planned for), it was decided that something different would have to be done, as Bruce and Orga are similar pretty much only in name (or former name). |

| Death of Dracois, Versions 1 and 3 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Version 1: After being pushed around and beaten by the Roost Fighters, Dracois finally gets his just desserts when Jimifulss appears and wraps a hook around a rafter in a building. Drac sets off a tripwire, and Dracois' throat is cut as the silver hook on the chain hangs him up..for good. Background: Long before Orga_99 was introduced (ie planned for), it was decided that one of the climatic scenes would be Dracois' death. The first idea would have Jimifulss getting some revenge by hanging poor Dracois. While it was be more violent than what eventually transpired, the idea fell through. Version 3: Dracois' coronation to the throne of the Spammerites is interrupted by the arrival of Orga_99 and Blight. Dracois asks the hybrid, "Peter Parker, is that you?" Orga responds, "Here's a hint!", and sends a fireball towards the kid. The Spammerite's body is turned to ash as the fireball consumes him. Background: Version 2 is what you saw in the story, but there was just one other plan for Orga killing Drac. This scene would have almost entirely echoed Transformers: The Movie, where Galvatron kills Starscream with one hit from his laser cannon. However, in order to avoid just repeating that same scene from TF:TM, Orga kills Drac with his ShungokuSatsu. |

| Osaka In Flames, Versions 2 and 3 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Version 2: As a last-ditch effort to cream Bruce and make Clint the victor of the War of Wrath, Crimson Water fighter jets fly over Osaka and firebomb the city, sending everywhere scattering away. Background: Version 1 is what you saw in the story, but this scene being included would mean that Biokamitra would have to be cut from the story. While it might have made more sense to have CW firebomb the city than have one kaiju set the entire city aflame, if this scene was included, then there was no way anyone could be surviving that. So, due to concerns about the plot advancing, this scene was cut. Version 3: As Bruce battles Clint, something seems to be amiss, as a loud, familiar roar is heard. As Bruce is about to finish the battle, he looks up..and there is Godzilla, waiting to ravage them. Bruce flees, but Clint remains as Godzila's breath swipes across the entire city, setting it aflame. Godzilla then inexplicably walks off - perhaps he senses another challenge. Background: The ideas of the Quick Interlude would have been expanded here. It definitely made sense to have Godzilla show up, but getting him out of there for a logical reason didn't seem to click with me. So, Biokamitra, who was planned for first anyway, had to come out of a portal and disappear into one. |

| The Original Ending! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Story: Clint and Brandon battle during the War of Wrath, and as Brandon is about to escape with Bruce, Clint pulls Brandon towards him and holds him there. Bruce tries to save his friend, but before he can reach him, Sauron lets go, due to the strain of having Clint holding on to his ankle. Clint and Brandon plunge into the flames below, and Bruce walks away, deeply saddened. Blight, who is barely a foot away, consumes the last soul he needs..and advances to Shin Blight, in this cliffhanger ending that acts as a prelude to Roost Fighter II. Background: After reviewing it, you begin to realize why it was cut. The most obvious reason being that killing Brandon definitely wasn't in good taste, as Brandon is FAR too important to be killed off so easily and quickly. The public outcry would have been gargantuan. Also, after listening to "The War of Wrath" by Battlelore, it made me want to leave Clint hanging around so that he could be killed by Blight in the next RF story. There was no real reason why I waited until RF2 to finish off Werner, it just came as I wrote the final chapter. Coming up: ROOST FIGHTER II OUTTAKES! |
