HYPERLINK: ONLINE GOODIES

I don't entirely understand why people visit this site anyway, apart from members of Kaijuphile/Rodan's Roost, who make up almost all of the cast of the stories. Assuming you are one of those people, however, you could probably just skip this page. But for the uneducated, here are some links to RF message board extras, along with some helpful links to other sites so that you can better understand this whole ordeal.

Roost Fighter Message Board Extras

First up, we have all the various subforums of the Roost Fighter message board (a link to which can be found on the main page of this site), along with vague explanations of each.

The Main Menu
The Main Menu is the basic key to everything RF-related. There are threads on upcoming stories Roost Fighter Alpha 2 and Roost Fighter Alpha 3; a thread where people can ask the author (often annoying and pointless) questions about RF and another one where you can flame me; polls; random question threads; and much more. If you want to get started with RF, then you should go here first.

The Story Mode
The Story Mode does not contain any of my stories, but instead has fan stories by RF fans and multi-author "round robins." Round robins, if you don't know, are stories where any number of people can add to the story. It's rare that I participate in them myself, but round robins are extremely popular with RF fans on Kaijuphile, so it's worth checking out.

The Arcade Mode
The Arcade Mode is probably the next most popular asset of the RF message boards. Here, we pit up to 32 fighters or teams against each other in lengthy competitions, lasting up to several months. These are why the stats (found in the Characters sections) are so important to Roost Fighter. Each fighter has their own strengths and weaknesses, of course, so we get to find out just who the true Kings of Fighters are (so far, we've found they are Shadow (Alpha), Dante, Gorjirus (Shadow, Dante & Gorj were all on one team in the first tournament, and Shadow won again in T2) and PyrasTerran). The current tournament is Roost Fighter Tournament IV: Bloody Double, which is a tag-team tournament containing roughly 64 fighters in all. An archive of all the previous tournaments can be found in the Replay Mode.

Versus Mode
Though not as popular as all of the aforementioned subforums, the Versus Mode is still reasonably interesting. Instead of matches being drawn, fighters can pit themselves against other fighters as they please, without any of the Arcade Mode's restrictions. There are some interesting matches, so it's worth looking at. Oh, and don't mind the Beta Tournament stuff - one of RF's fans is hosting his own tournament for people who suc-- I mean, lost in T4's first round, along with some other fighters.

A Directory of Relevant Sites

This directory is intended to show you the variety of websites which are relevant to the Roost Fighter universe, including the very site where RF was born. Note: all of these are Godzilla (or related) web sites, so if you really have no interest in big Japanese monsters, steer clear.

Kaijuphile.com - Monster Site. Monster Obsession.
This is the site where Roost Fighter was first conceived and created, and where it still lives (this site is, nowadays anyway, a subsite of KP - check the Fan Nest). This is one of the best-designed kaiju (Japanese giant monster, if you don't know already) sites around, and it has a lot to offer for both casual G-fans and the hardcore kaiju otaku (I personally fall into the latter category). Rodan's Roost, the subsection which originally was the main site, contains all of the kaiju stuff. The Fan Nest contains fan art, fiction, and has links to this site and Roostville, among other things. American Kaiju is a fansite containing works by Todd Tennant and Mike Bogue (both of who are quite famous in kaiju circles). Finally, the forums have...welll....forums, to discuss all of this.

Roostville
*snuff* Their site is so much better-designed than mine... :-( . Anyway, Roostville is sort of the old rival of Roost Fighter, playing more on the Round Robin angle discussed above. It used to be helmed by a kid named Gamingboy, but it has since fallen into the far more capable hands of Emperor Violenjiger/Lord Khandejifer/Desutoroia, who took a darker turn with the series in a way that made it a lot more respectable, in my opinion. I'm still not too into it myself - the only time I was really involved was in a round robin called Orga_99 vs Roostville, wherein my character tried to destroy the city - but it's decent overall.

Monster Zero
This site is probably one of the most famous G-sites of all due to its outstanding coverage of kaiju news and rumours. Roost Fighter did try a crossover with its forum, but when it was temporarily shut down by hackers, I called it quits. I can't really say much else here, other than that you should check it out for the latest news and rumours regarding Japanese giant monsters.

MaserCity
There's not much point to me posting a link to it because it's basically non-existent for the moment. But while it was thriving, MaserCity was notorious for its "mature audiences only" take on Godzilla message boards, what with its lack of a language censor and the acceptability of more mature content that would be shunned at any of the above forums/sites. It used to be a news site w/forum, then that part was taken down and it was left with just the forum...and now, there's nothing, other than this line of text:
There, there. It'll be open someday. Maybe.
Its memory lives on, however, and in the story "Roost Fighter vs MaserCity," I intend to keep its mature tone basically intact...whenever that happens. At the moment, I'm still waiting for MC to go back online before I post the story on this site.
