So Why Roost Fighter?: After the failures of the stories before it, a revelation came to me while playing Capcom vs SNK 2 EO for Gamecube (also available on XBox and PS2). Thanks to the Colour Edit mode, I fashioned myself a "new body" with Kyo Kusanagi as the basis, and renamed him "Bruce". At first, it started out just as recolouring characters and naming them after Roost members. But then it dawned on me I'd have to do better than that.

And so came Roost Fighter.

I was dedicated to making this fic work. I had to: if it was anything else, no one would have read it.

I laid out a straight-forward plot, and then used the characters I had renamed and recoloured in CvS2 for the fighters. It worked. Roost
Fighter was the biggest hit I had ever had. (Nowadays I wonder how that was ever possible.)

It was also the father of two other things. A few months after RF's release, Allosaurz tried to create a Roost Fighter RPG. When that failed, Metal Zombie aka Brett Cook took over, and renamed it "Crimson Battlefield," having no real ties to RF but otherwise capturing its spirit. There is also Roostville. It was created by Gamingboy, and soon Roostville Round Robins became the new craze, even trying to kill its father product (it has since failed, though it's more respectable than it was after a change in management).

It was decided that all of the fan suggestions would have to be expanded, and so in the early summer of 2003 I unveiled a sequel to Roost Fighter, named Roost Fighter 2. Though not as successful as RF1, the writing was, in my opinion, far superior to its predecessor.

Then came Roost Fighter Alpha, which debuted on April 27, 2005, three months after Roost Fighter's second anniversary. This story promises to be a dark and violent outing in the RF series, darker than even RF2.

So what will become of Roost Fighter after the final story, Roost Fighter Alpha 3? Who knows? But stay tuned - the fight is never over.
